A JOURNEY THROUGH TEA & CERAMICS

WITH MIKE RICCI AND MADELYN SOLDNER SULLIVAN

TWO EVENTS:
Talk & Demonstration: August 3, 2024, 4pm - 5:30pm, $25
Explore the history of tea and ceramic tea bowls from the ancient era up to American Raku, the process pioneered by Paul Soldner, and experience a demonstration of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

Day-Long Retreat: August 4, 2024, 10am - 5pm, $150
A day-long retreat to experience Chinese and Japanese tea ceremonies focused around the natural wisdom of the season of summer and the element of fire. Mike and Madelyn will draw on the wisdom traditions of Japan and China through the five elements, poetry, and the Tao with time for contemplation, journaling, and writing.


Clothing for artists

July 18-20, 2024, 10am - 5pm, $275

Excited about sewing your own clothes? Learn basic sewing skills, construction techniques, clothing structure, and creative fabric use. Mornings will focus on technical demonstrations and hands-on skill building and the afternoons will be working on individual projects with the support of the instructor.

Join poet and nonfiction writer Heather Swan for a presentation about insects, art, and the natural world at the Aspen Chapel from her newest book Where the Grass Still Sings.

Poet and nonfiction writer Heather Swan returns to the Soldner Center for another day-long writing workshop that will explore how to write creatively and with joy about the mysterious and marvelous nonhuman beings around us, the natural world and our relationship to it.
